About the Newport project.

Judy was living alone in a 2-storey, 4-bedroom home on a canal in Newport, Queensland after her husband passed away 3 years earlier. She was only 69 years old when she had a stroke. Although she returned home and lived alone, she never fully recovered and after a minor motor vehicle accident, she was forced to move into an Aged Care Facility.

Judy’s children live in Melbourne and Sydney with their families and could not take the time away from them to sort out Judy’s house, so they contacted Jeanne at Colomba Property.

Jeanne met both children and organised for Judy to come home from the hospital to go through the house and advise on what was to be kept, sent to storage or sold. Judy’s children then returned to their families.

Jeanne sorted through all the personal belongings in the home and arranged for some items to be sold via various websites and businesses.  She held a garage sale for most items no longer wanted. She then organised for The Salvation Army to collect the good quality items left over from the garage sale and the rest taken to the refuse centre.

For the treasured and essential items kept, Jeanne organised removalists to pack up and move to Judy and her daughter in Sydney.  She also sourced a self-storage facility near Newport for storage of additional personal belongings.

Jeanne did assist with researching and engaging the services of a real estate agent to sell the property, painters, floor polisher and other trades to complete cosmetic renovations prior to the sale of the property.  On settlement, Jeanne ensured the house was empty, clean and the yard well maintained ready for the new owners.

It was through Jeanne’s clear communication with the client, sub-contractors and real estate agent, that all this work was completed in 6 weeks.  The house had a contract for sale signed 9 days later.

As a result of Jeanne’s vast knowledge, careful planning and professionalism, Judy’s adult children were able to spend quality time with their own young families and achieve a great financial result from the sale of the property.
